Checkfree software monitors the member's activity, such as number of payments, dollar amount of payments, and NSF issues. If the member is considered low risk and the payee is not signed up to accept ACH, then a Checkfree Corporate Check is issued. If the member's habits show a potential risk to Checkfree, the a Paper Draft issued.
How does Checkfree make payments to payees? ACH - the member's account is debited via ACH the same date as payee date. Checkree Corp. Check - the check is processed 4 days prior to the payee date entered by the member in order for it to reach the payee by the due date, and the member's account is debited via ACH the same date as payee date. Paper Draft - a paper check is created with the member's account number and routing number and is processed 4 days prior to the payee date entered by the member in order for it to reach the payee by the due date. The paper draft clears through normal check clearing on member's account. This means the funds do not come out of your account until the payee cashes the check.
Is there a limit on payment amounts that I schedule? Payments may be made up to just under a million dollars and you may schedule as many payments as you choose. When using e-mail payments (payments from your payment account to another account enrolled in this service) the limited payment amount is $2,000.

What will happen if I try to schedule a payment in less than the required four day window? All payments must be scheduled at least four days in advance of your due date. When I look at my check registry in Home Banking, some of the Bill Payer entries have a description and some just say share draft. If the payment is made by ACH or a Checkfree Corporate check, which are both electronically drawn from your account, then the description will include the payee name. EXAMPLE. Why did my Bill Payer service become deactivated? Bill Payer accounts become deactivated when the following conditions apply ... no payment activity for the last 90 days and no sign-on activity with the last 30 days. Deactivating this service is a security feature that protects both the member and the credit union.
