Beware of Phone Scams

Recently we have received reports of members receiving calls and being asked to verify "suspicious activity" on their debit or credit card. If you receive a similar call or text message, please do not give out any personal information and notify us immediately. As a reminder, Telhio will never contact you and ask you to verify personal information such as your PIN number over the phone.

Some warning signs of phony fraud alerts:
  • You receive an email, phone call, or text message from somebody saying they are from your credit union, asking you about recent activity on your account.
  • You are asked to confirm your debit card, account number, PIN number, and/or passwords.
  • The scammer  claims that there has been fraudulent activity found on your bank account, or that your card has been cancelled.

Ways to protect yourself and account:
  • Never click on any link or attachment in a suspicious text message or email
  • Never provide personal information, debit card, PIN number, or login information. We will NOT call you and request this information.
  • Do not reply to any unsolicited emails or text messages
When in doubt, simply hang up and call Telhio at 614-221-3233 to ensure the call is a legitimate inquiry from the credit union you know and trust. For additional information, review our commitment to security.
