Having kids is expensive, but entertaining them during the summer doesn't have to be! There are an abundance of free and fabulous family excursions you can take this summer. Here are our top three:

1. Hiking in Hocking Hills.
Hocking Hills is home to miles of beautiful trails, gorges, caves, waterfalls, and a whole lot of family fun. Located in Southeastern Ohio, Hocking Hills is the perfect place for your family to spend the day hiking and observing nature (all for free!) Explore Old Man's Cave, Cantwell Cliffs, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave, the largest, most impressive recess cave in the state. You can even pack your lunch and enjoy a family picnic on the trail. https://www.hockinghills.com/index.html

2. National Museum of U.S. Airforce.
Located in Dayton, the National Museum of U.S. Airforce is the perfect summer experience combining both education and fun. Take a journey through aeronautical history from the Wright Brothers through WWII and beyond. The museum is open from 9am-5pm, seven days a week, and is FREE! They also host monthly family days during the summer and throughout the year. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/

3. Ohio Festivals.
Ohio loves a good festival! With hundreds of festivals to choose from throughout the state, you're sure to find one that will provide great entertainment for your family! Festivals do have free admission, though you may have to pay for food and a ride on the Ferris Wheel. If you're in the neighborhood, Telhio Credit Union is a sponsor of the Columbus Food Truck Festival in August. This summer excursion combines food, music and fun for the entire family. It's also located at Bicentennial Park which has one of Columbus' coolest splash pads!
