Nobody says you have to go on a luxurious vacation during your kids' spring break. If you're on the hunt for fun-filled activities on a budget, look no further than close to home!

Here are five great staycation ideas that will have your kids telling their friends they had the best spring break ever:

1. Spend the day at a nearby park.

Spring break is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the new season weather. Spend a day hiking, fishing, horseback riding or exploring nature centers. There are dozens of metro parks throughout the state that will give you great family fun and a chance to enjoy some fresh air and the great outdoors.

2. Visit a children's hands-on museum.

Ohio is home to some of the top children's museums in the U.S., so why not take advantage of them during spring break. These museums will give your children the chance to experience adventure learning through play and hands-on-fun. We suggest visiting

COSI in Columbus, the Children's Museum in Cleveland or the Cincinnati Museum Center.

3. Have a Movie Marathon Day.

Reorganize your TV room into your own home movie theatre with pillows, bean bags and blankets. Choose a variety of family-friendly movies your family will enjoy and create a menu of theatre treats that include hot dogs, nachos, milk shakes and the always delicious buttery popcorn.

4. Make a splash at a local indoor water park.

Since it's too chilly to swim outside, plan an overnight stay at a hotel with an indoor water park or pool. Ohio is home to Kalahari Resorts and Great Wolf Lodge, as well as great hotels with pools.

5. Complete a family DIY project.

Working together on home improvement projects can be fun! Re-doing your kids' bedrooms or rearranging their toy room is a great way to get your kids involved around the house. Other projects could include painting the house, planting a garden or building a swing set.
