Deck the halls with boughs of holly! It's the holiday season, which means everything is festive, people are naturally happier, and the atmosphere is merry and bright. Most people venture home to spend time with their families and enjoy the time they have together. But what if you're not able to make it home for the holidays? Sure, it's a bummer, but that doesn't mean you have to spend your days alone on the couch binge watching Netflix. So what can you do to tame your holiday FOMO?

Here are some great tips to help you not miss out this holiday season:

1. Have a Festivus with Friends. If you can't make it home for the holidays, or your family has other plans, gather up some of your friends who might also be in the same boat and host your own party with a gift exchange.

2. Facetime with Family.
All you need is some Wi-Fi and you can find yourself being with your family without actually being there. Have someone place you at the table so you can join in on the Christmas dinner conversation. Send your gifts early and enjoy watching everyone open their presents.

3. Celebrate the Holidays Early.
The holidays don't necessarily need to be celebrated on their respective days. If you can't make it home on December 25, find another day to deck the halls; the holidays are about being with the people you love.

4. Travel to a City You've Never Been To.
You can't let the holiday FOMO get to you; exercise, keep moving, and maybe travel to a city you've never been to. Ideally, you want to spend time with the people you love, but if you can't, then take a trip for yourself. Explore a new state, go abroad, or just visit a new city in the state you live in.
