4. Sydney, Australia. Sydney, Australia is the best destination if you're looking to travel on your own terms and just "be." This English speaking country is very easy to navigate and Sydney is one of the safest places to visit. It is a colorful, cosmopolitan area that offers both historical and worldly features. 5. Montreal, Canada. Montreal is a great solo destination and a close enough drive from the U.S. Montreal is one of the oldest cities in North America and is home to Mt.
